How Renew UCR Registration collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you file your Unified Carrier Registration with us.

Effective date: October 21, 2026 · See also Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Renew UCR Registration ("Renew UCR Registration," "we," "us," or "our") operates this website and a private service that files Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) with the UCR Plan on behalf of motor carriers and other transportation businesses. We are not a government agency.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website, our filing service, and our emails.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Your contact details: name, email address, and phone number
  • Your business's details: legal name, doing-business-as name, USDOT number, business phone number, and principal and mailing addresses
  • Your filing details: business type, vehicle counts, the registration year, and your confirmation that you are authorized to file
  • Messages you send us, including through our contact form
  • Billing details you enter at checkout. Your card number goes directly to our payment processor, Stripe; we never receive or store it

Information from public sources

We may collect business and carrier information from publicly available sources, including FMCSA's SAFER system, UCR-related public records, and publicly accessible business websites and directories.

This information may include a business name, USDOT number, business address, telephone number, email address, fleet information, operating status, and other publicly available business information.

We use this information to verify carrier details, help determine UCR filing requirements, prefill filing information, and communicate with businesses about UCR registration and our filing services.

Information from payments

Stripe tells us whether each payment attempt succeeded, the amount, and, if a card is declined, the reason. We also record refunds and disputes on your order.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information in server logs, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the time of each request. We use your IP address to protect the website, for example to limit repeated submissions. When you select Pay, we save the time, your IP address, and your browser type with your order as a record of your authorization.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Prepare and submit your UCR registration to the UCR Plan
  • Verify and prefill carrier and business information
  • Calculate your filing price and process your payment
  • Send receipts, registration confirmations, and other messages about your order
  • Answer questions and provide support
  • Send UCR registration reminders and other business-to-business communications about our filing services
  • Prevent fraud, spam, misuse, and keep the website secure
  • Maintain business, tax, accounting, and legal records
  • Comply with applicable law

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use information collected through our website for cross-context behavioral advertising. Cookies are set only for these purposes:

  • Payment: when you pay, Stripe may set cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud
  • Spam protection: when you use our contact form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person, which may use cookies and information about your browser and device
  • Staff sign-in: our staff dashboard uses cookies to keep authorized staff signed in. Customers do not have accounts
  • Analytics: on our public website, Google Analytics uses cookies to measure how the site is used, such as the pages viewed, how visitors arrived, and their device, browser, and approximate location. We use it to understand how visitors use our website and improve it. We remove filing links and other private details from the page addresses it receives, and we do not intentionally send Google Analytics names, email addresses, phone numbers, USDOT numbers, or filing details. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

You can block cookies in your browser settings, but payment and the contact form may then not work. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect the site.

Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, our practices are the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

5. Emails From Us

We send transactional emails about orders you place with us, including receipts, registration confirmations, payment notices, and messages concerning your filing.

We may also send business-to-business communications about UCR registration and our filing services to business contacts obtained from publicly available government records and other publicly accessible business sources.

Marketing emails include a way to unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe from marketing communications, we may still send transactional or service-related messages concerning an order you placed with us.

6. How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to provide our service, with:

  • The UCR Plan, which receives your registration details when we file on your behalf
  • Stripe, our payment processor, which receives your payment details directly
  • MapQuest, which receives the address you type so it can suggest matching addresses
  • Cloudflare, which checks contact form submissions for spam
  • Google, which provides website analytics as described in Cookies and Similar Technologies
  • Our website hosting, database, and email delivery providers, which store and send information for us
  • Professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidentiality
  • Government authorities, when required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others
  • A buyer or successor, if our business is merged, sold, or reorganized, subject to this Privacy Policy

Our service providers process information for the purposes described in this policy and subject to their agreements with us and applicable law.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit, limited staff access, and a payment processor that keeps card details off our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We keep order records, including payment history, for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet tax, accounting, and legal requirements, and to resolve disputes. We keep messages you send us for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of our support. When we no longer need information, we delete or de-identify it.

9. Your Privacy Rights

California residents

If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to our processing of your personal information, California residents may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and receive a copy of it
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions such as records we must keep
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

In the past 12 months, we collected the categories of information described in Information We Collect, from you, from publicly available government records and publicly accessible business sources, and from our payment processor, for the purposes described in How We Use Your Information, and disclosed them only to the recipients described in How We Share Information.

Depending on where you live, you may have similar rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. We honor these requests wherever we reasonably can.
